Sydney trip

We decided to visit some friends in Newcastle for the long weekend..
and they suggested we head to Sydney to check out Viv.d - light and music show
It was the kids and my first time in Sydney and we were mesmerized by her beauty..

Miss Sydney put on a spectacular sunny day as we strolled, enjoyed a ferry ride and waited until dark for the lights to begin..
The lights of the city were gorgeous in their own right... taken from the deck of the Sea Shepherd.. We enjoyed a tour and learnt more about their mission to save the whales..
Our littlest is now planning when she will join the crew of the Shepherd to join them when they return to Antarctica to save the whales being illegally hunted..
The photos of the lights just don't go near doing them any justice...They were just amazing...I'm sure we walked around for hours with our jaws dropped and constantly saying...WOW..

I took 350 pics...But thought I'd spare you just share a few..
We spent the whole day and half the night at Circular Quay and the Rocks
and honestly could have stayed for longer...

Highly recommend it for big and small peeps
This year it runs from end of May to mid June - we will be definitely looking up the dates for next year..

Hope you all had a safe and warm long weekend and did something that lit you up!

"Muuuuum what can i draw?"

Because I hear "mummmmmm what can i draw?" several times a day from my picture drawing obsessed cherubs, when I came across the below picture on pinterest I knew we needed to make some of these here drawing dices as a matter of urgency.

Given the recent build it was not hard to find some pieces of timber laying around outside. Daddy chopped them into squares and we sanded the corners down so no splinters in little fingers..

Then we got busy with the paint and whilst the drawing dices were drying,  got even more creative with the paint...

Once dry, the girls chose animals and feelings to write on each side of the dice..

never short of ideas for drawings now!

From the hands of babes

My girls have a texta, crayon or pencil almost permanently in their little hands.
Always drawing, making and creating.

We have copious amounts of art produced en masse every single day.

Charlotte is a careful and measured artist, she plans and thinks about what she is drawing and then produces one perfectly finished and complete piece.

Amelia is like a mad little scribbler, she will sit with a pad and furiously draw, get halfway through her picture and as quick as she put crayon to paper, it is ripped out and discarded. And when it is all over she has a PILE of discarded works of art scattered around her.

Not sure what kind of clues their drawing practices hold for their very different little personality's - time will tell, but in the meantime i just love watching them create.

Kitchen Sketches

The little girls are as equally excited about the new house as the big girl in the family.
Charlotte asked if she could "have" one of my House & Garden magazines to "keep" this morning. I reluctantly said, "yyyyeeessssss" despite it being this months issue - what a good mumma..

Then they got busy drawing up some kitchen sketches - makes my heart sing that they love it just as much as the mumma xxxx

Getting ready to head down to the house today to have a bit of a clean up, take some pictures and gaze out the windows

Thanks for reading

cubby time

The days have been so cold, but it does not stop my little girls wanting to play outside in their "cubby"..Rain, hail or shine the girls have been making their own fun out in what used to be a wood shed.
Cooking up a storm with things they can find in the garden - lemons, dirt, water, leaves
 "the campfire"
homemade kitchen bench.. with no help at all from mummy
stringing up the clothes line
Oh how i love wandering outside to see what they are up to and finding them playing, creating and excited to show it all off...

House update coming soon!

Play

When playing, a child's brain is at work.
I LOVE watching my girls play, pretend and create.
When you wonder where they are and they have created a spot in the garden for a picnic
When they stumble across an old cash register tray that i used to play with as a child and play "shop"
Hours of amusement, making signs and getting set up
When they find a tank of water in the paddock and have an idea...
A twig, some string and a hook made out of foil = a homemade fishing rod

The joy of watching their creativity and memory making....
